It has been said that the fierce struggle for American Independence began on an April morning in 1775. That is indeed when the War began… but that was not the beginning of America’s fight for liberty! A fight that would be won with more than muskets and bayonets. The Revolution began as an ember in the hearts and minds of freedom loving people and was fueled by powerful words, ideas, and the courage to speak them.
Spirit of Liberty vividly re-creates one of the most crucial times in American history, and allows you to meet some of America’s most beloved patriots. Including: Patrick Henry, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abigail Adams and many more.
Today’s generation of young people are the most technically advanced in history. Their lives are filled with DVDs, video games, iPods and the Internet. As a result, the way children learn has evolved far past the textbook. Their method of communication is multi-media. In order to teach them the fundamental values and history of American, we must invent new state of the art tools.
Spirit of Liberty, the brainchild of The American Village and Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures, is the just that type of tool. It is an effort to combine entertainment and education and create a new type of educational tool. A tool that allows the viewer go far beyond the pages of a book and actually experience history first hand.
It is the goal of the American Village and Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures to produce a series of short films and a host of related material to create a new form of teaching though multi-media. A product that will allow students to experience history first hand, and see our founding fathers vividly come to life.
The American Village is a unique civic education laboratory, the only such facility of its kind in the nation, created and existing for the sole purpose of teaching citizenship founded in Constitutional law.
